We are learning to:  follow instructions from a dance teacher to learn a dance routine.

We can do this when:  we keep to the beat
                                    we are in sync with the dance moves being taught
                                    dance with another partner


Writing

WALT: Write a fairytale in our own words.

Success Criteria:

  1. Orientation - who (characters), what, where (setting)
  2. Problem - what goes wrong?
  3. Solution - how do they make it right?
  4. Magic !
  5. Outcome (Happily ever after…)

CARE

Maths

WE ARE LEARNING TO: ADD TENS AND ONES TOGETHER TO WORK OUT A PROBLEM

WE CAN DO THIS WHEN: we split tens and ones to add numbers together and getting the right answer.




Writing

We are learning to write a description about an animal from out big book.

We can do this when we use describing words to paint a picture in our readers head. 

Teacher comment:

I loved your story about a cat and the describing words you used to make your story interesting.
Next Step:  adding more detail.


Gymnastics

This term your child is learning different skills in gymnastics.
Learning different shapes:
- straddle
- pike
- stretch
- tuck

Learning some rolls:
- pencil roll
- dish roll
- hedgehog roll
- circle roll
- elephant roll 

Achievement Objectives
Students will:
  • Participate in creative and regular physical activities and identify enjoyable experiences.
  • Experience creative, regular, and enjoyable physical activities and describe the benefits to well-being.

TEACHER COMMENT:
Great to see you using your body to do the dish roll. I can see you are keeping your body nice and straight.
I love how you started with a shape (straddle) before you did your roll.

Te Reo

Last Friday the students started their first session with Matua Rihari.

We sang a few waiatas and all the students were engaged with the singing and actions that went along with it.

Topic - Dispositions

WALT: describe EMPATHY, one of our dispositions and use it towards others.

I can do this when I show empathy towards my peers.

This week the year 2's explore what EMPATHY is.  We then made cards for one another by interviewing each other.  The students put a lot of effort into their cards and showed a great amount of empathy towards each other. 





Billy


We are learning to keep to a rhythm and change when instructed.



I can do this when I keep a rhythm by making different sounds with my body. 



Thank you for showing me your fantastic skills!  I loved watching the little performance and seeing you trying your best at keeping the rhythm.

I am learning to create a piece of sun art

I can do this when I use different colours and use koru designs. 






I love your sun art, I love it because you used bright colours and drew a very visible and creative sun!  Next time we will give you time to finish :)

SML

We are learning to manage ourselves during literacy time.

We can do this when:
We glue in our SML (self managed learning) sheet at that start of the week in our SML book
We complete the things we have to do and show our learning buddy so they can sign us off













WRITING - EDITING

We are learning to:  give other people feedback on their writing.

We can do this when: we listen to other peoples writing and tell them something they have done well and something they need to work on. 







It was great to listen to your writing and the way you took on board what you had to do to make your writing better from your peers. Thank you for listening to others and helping them by giving them feedback on their writing. 

JUNIOR CHOIR

WALT: Show the CARE value RESPECT at Oaklands School

We can do this when we: Belong to groups such as Kapa Haka, and Junior Choir and attend regularly.







Great singing!!! Keep up with the great movements and the enthusiasm you put into Junior Choir. 

Writing

Billy, you did a great job on your writing this week.  You took your time to add detail to your picture plan and put a lot of effort into your writing.  Keep it up!
